Browsershots

When it comes down to web design testing browser compatibility is mandatory and should be a practiced at all times specially when your creations will be used by all sorts of individuals utilizing various types of browser. There’s nothing more annoying than viewing a deformed website that pretty much render content illegible.
Achieving the same uniform web designs and compatibility on all browsers is near impossible but not impossible provided you have the right tools and resources.
That's were this pretty handy open source web based application browsershot comes into the picture. Browsershots enables you to view your website using multiple browsers without having to download a single application by submitting your website to a number of distributed computers that will open your website in their perspective browsers and take screenshots that will be displayed back to your browser.
Downloading multiple browsers is too time consuming nor unachievable unless you have multiple operating systems at your disposal. Browsershot is pretty simple to use you can pretty much figure out how to use it within a few seconds. Once you navigate to the site your presented with a text box where you can enter the url of the site you intend to test and a submit button. Once you have submitted your site a browser configuration page will shortly be displayed allowing you to select the type of browsers you would like to test your web site on. You can select the following options resolution size, waiting time (average from 30 mins to 4 hours) etc.

One of the major draw backs I found with this system are the waiting screenshot rendering times which take between 30mins to 4 hours. The system doesn't support real time rending of screen shots so be prepared to grab a cup of coffee it will be a while. Overall its a pretty neat tool for a web developer or designer to have at their disposal.

If anyone knows any better alternative to browsershot please leave a link in the comment section of this post.
